Yes, its been forever since I’ve posted! With an etsy shop, costume business and having kids and a house, did I mention we’re moving?! Everything’s gotten a little overwhelming! SOOOOO I’m streamlining the whole operation! I’ve decided to use THIS blog for everything! My crafting, costuming tutorials, life and Etsy shop adventures. We shall see how it goes… Let me know what you think, and what you’d like to see! I stink at writing so feel free to ASK questions. Here’s a crazy quick recap of the past few months.
In November 2013, I decided to open an Etsy shop. I’m really passionate about design and wanted to explore that side of myself outside of the theatre. I make accessories, scarves, bags, leather goods and hope to transition into clothing soon. It’s been a great way to learn the ropes of retail fashion design! My shop is named “Bonnie Blue” https://www.etsy.com/shop/BonnieBlueAngelaWood, inspired by the women and culture of the American South. I love the opportunity to design and make what I want to in small amounts. No mass production! My pieces are made from natural materials whenever possible. Stop by the shop and let me know what you think! I’ll begin to add tutorials to this blog when I make new things! I take tons of pics , I love the process!
After finishing Seussical I decided to take a break from theater. We shall see how long it lasts haha. I really need time to recharge, get healthy again(lose weight), and focus on my family. Theatre is a passion of mine but it takes a lot of creative energy and I was on empty. I’ll use some of this time to add some e book tutorials on a few of the most popular costumes I’ve made. Let me know what you’d like to see!
Last month we decided it was time for a change and we need a little more space. I really needed a work space, taking up the entire kitchen for a project is NOT practical haha! So we called our realtor cousin, listed our house and began looking for a new one. My husband and I love to travel so we wanted something with a smaller yard, less to take care of. We looked at a few houses in the area, but nothing really made me excited about the move. Meanwhile our current house, having a new kitchen and flooring was getting a ton of interested buyers! We decided to take a weekend excursion to NOLA (post about that later). On the way home, I was scrolling through the newly listed homes in the area and I saw it….. THE HOUSE! I’m not really a house person, so for me to get really excited about a house is slightly unusual. A brick french inspired 4 bedroom zero lot line beauty! This house had just been listed and was barely on the market when we were able to see it. The current owner, was still there when we looked at it. This house had everything I wanted and things I didn’t know I wanted. The owner was an interior decorator and had just finished a $100,000 up grade 4 years prior! The house has hardwood, granite tile, stone tile, custom built shutters, a farm sink from England, a prep sink from France, custom cabinets I could go on and on!!!! As we were looking, I got that flutter in my stomach, tears in my eyes and looked at my husband. He turned to our realtor and said “this is it”. Done. He is a good man;) The house had been on the market one day! I’ve included a few pics from the house when we looked at it. I’ll post more as we move in. As I sit writing this, we are two weeks from moving and I can. not. wait. More to come soon!!!
